The beginning of Resiter

Resiter began when Chile was experiencing the worst recession in its history. In 1982, the engineers Álvaro Fischer and Raúl Alcaíno managed to take over the collection of household garbage in the commune of San Bernardo. His first decision was to buy eight garbage trucks.

A decade later, Resiter was in charge of this task in a third of the communes of the Metropolitan Region. However, already at that time the company was undergoing an important turn to dedicate itself exclusively to the management of industrial waste.

Good Year

The signing of a contract with Good Year in 1991 was the beginning of Resiter’s new path, an alternative that turned out to be more reliable and profitable than depending on the decisions of the municipalities.

A big bet was made: without having any insured clients, 12 Self-Compacting Containers (CAC) were acquired. Doors were knocked, receiving good acceptance in restaurants, hotels and supermarkets. Before long, those CACs would become scarce.

The jump in the big mining

The mining companies were the next objective, since it meant entering the big leagues. It was necessary to demonstrate a first-rate service in all aspects, starting with safety, a factor of the highest relevance in Large Mining.

The first client was the Disputada de Las Condes mine, belonging to Exxon, in 1992. Years later, with the entry to El Abra, it was decided to deepen its presence in that sector, which soon led to the signing of contracts with giants such as Collahuasi and hidden.

In a few years, Resiter would position itself as the almost exclusive person in charge of waste management in Large Mining.

A new century begins and a new era for Resiter

At the beginning of this century, Resiter is located exclusively in industrial waste. The demands for greater sustainability in companies, both due to new regulations and pressure from stakeholders, make waste management unavoidable, helping Resiter’s positioning.

The company is undergoing a transformation, beginning with greater professionalization, embodied in the arrival of Ricardo Macari as general manager. At the same time, work is being done to obtain certifications to demonstrate the excellence of its processes in terms of quality, the environment and occupational safety (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, respectively). An era of sustained growth begins, which allows billing to increase more than 25 times between 2000 and 2013.

International expansion

In recent years, Resiter has expanded its services to new industries, such as pulp, forestry, oil, aquaculture, dairy, food, retail and agribusiness, which has allowed it to diversify its presence. Likewise, it expanded its range of action by entering the sewage treatment business.

To this was added the challenge of leaving the country: in 2009 the Peruvian market was entered with the intention of having a presence in the mining activity; then, in 2013, Arauco accompanied the forestry company in the operation of the Montes del Plata pulp mill in Uruguay, and in 2016 it opened a new market in Colombia.

With the inauguration in 2014 of its corporate building, one of the only ones in the country that has the LEED Gold certification -delivered by the Green Building Council of the United States to constructions that prove to be sustainable-, Resiter consolidates its position as a benchmark in environmental management of waste for large industry.
